The conference «LautSchriftSprache» (Sound - Script- Language) deals with processes of scripting and the usages of writing in pre-modern languages from a comparative
perspective. Based on several Western and Central European vernacular languages, we will look at the interrelationship of written and spoken language. First of all, we would like to focus on the following questions: Where did problems occur during the processes of scripting? How do contemporary sources reflect on it - in other words, what knowledge of media did exist? How and when were certain spellings institutionalised? On the other hand, we will also discuss theoretical and methodical issues which are relevant for the relationship of written and spoken language and its analysis in pre-modern languages. |
